Climb Carrauntoohil 1039m/ 3,414ft Ireland's highest peak! Carrauntoohil attracts thousands of people from all over the world to climb to it's summit. Corrán Tuathail meaning "Tuathal's sickle" towers among the well known MacGillycuddy Reeks. On a fine day, views will extend to the far away mountains, lakes, farmlands of West Cork and Kerry, for as far as a hundred miles.

It's a magnificent, rugged, scenic mountain to climb and an experience that one doesn't forget. We have over 8 different routes to climb this mountain with our experienced guides and grades that suit beginner to the most experienced mountaineer throughout the year. We also organize Climbs & Challenges for individuals, clubs, charities and companies. We offer Carrauntoohil walks & climbs all year round on selected dates. If you have 4 or more people we can arrange an experienced guide for any date throughout the year. We also offer scrambling and climbing for those who would like to take it up a level. Some popular routes/climbs available are Devil's Ladder, O'Shea's Gully, Curve Gully, Heavenly Gates, Howling Ridge, Carrauntoohil via Caher, Carrauntoohil and Beenkeragh. We also offer winter ascents, some for the experienced climber only!

Below is a recommended basic hillwalking gear list. If you don't have some of the gear, please contact us as there is no problem arranging some options from the guide on the day. You will find the more you hillwalk, themore important good gear really is! You do not have to buy all of the below unless you are going to do more in near future, but if possible try to borrow some of it and we can give you some advice on the day before you buy your own. Please contact us and advise us if you dont have the items below especially the required ones marked *.

  • One pair of good walking/mountaineering boots.

  • Waterproof clothing- Jacket and Trousers *

  • Backpack- carry your lunch and spare clothing

  • Warm Top *

  • Warm Hat & Gloves

  • Walking Poles- optional

  • 1 x Flask with hot drink - Optional
